Wenxiang Elementary School Visits Sijhou Elementary School for a Fun Bilingual Learning Day

Fifth graders from Wenxiang Elementary School visited Sijhou Elementary School on April 25. They joined a special bilingual class taught in English by a foreign English teacher. The students learned about protecting the Earth and saw how Sijhou Elementary School used both real and online tools for learning English in different subjects.

Principal Cheng of Sijhou Elementary School showed the students around the campus. They visited many places where students could scan QR codes to hear stories in English. Teacher Julianne from the Philippines led a fun lesson about the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals). The students talked about saving energy and caring for the planet. Director Jian also used iPads to help students practice speaking English and take online quizzes.

After the tour, student Wang Xuan-Wu said he liked scanning QR codes to listen to English stories. Student Su Yi-Zhen shared that she enjoyed learning from the foreign English teacher and hoped her school would have a foreign English teacher too, so they could practice English every day.

Principal Yang of Wenxiang Elementary School said her school is working hard to grow students’ English skills through bilingual classes. She hopes students can learn more about different cultures and make friends with the world.

Starting this year, Wenxiang Elementary School has bilingual PE classes. During the visit, they even had a fun bilingual dodgeball game with Sijhou students! Teacher Lin Jia-Jun said these activities helped students use English in real life, making learning even better.

 On April 2nd, Lu Shang Elementary School celebrated its 103rd anniversary with a Sports Day. Students, teachers, and parents all came together to join the fun.

The day started with special performances. First, students played the ocarina. Then, others danced with a dragon. The audience was impressed by each show. They could see how much the students had practiced. After the performances, the races began. The 60-meter and 100-meter dash were exciting and full of energy.

There were also fun games like the Stick & Ball Relay and the Ball Rolling Race. Students from different grades worked as a team to run, cheer, and play. Some parents even joined in the games and had fun playing with their children.

Students cheered loudly during the relay race. The tug-of-war was just as exciting. Everyone smiled and tried their best.

During the Sports Day, everyone enjoyed tasty treats from the food truck. Two cute frog mascots gave out small gifts, and students happily took photos with them!

This year’s Sports Day was full of energy, laughter, and team spirit. It was a wonderful day for everyone at Lu Shang Elementary School!

 Fude Elementary: Growing, Learning, and Speaking English

On March 6, 2025, 14 first graders at Fude Elementary School had a fun day in the school garden. With help from their teachers and parents, they picked radishes they had grown by themselves. After that, they joined a bilingual class and learned how to cook the radishes without wasting any part of them.

The school’s garden is not just for growing vegetables. It helps students get closer to nature and learn about being kind to the Earth. The children also learn English, good habits, and how to take care of the environment. They collect leaves and eggshells to make compost and try not to waste food.

Teacher Lin Meihui used AI to make fun bilingual dialogues for the cooking activity. Principal Cho Hongbin said these hands-on lessons help children understand where food comes from and learn to care for the world.

Parents Chang Danhua and Chen Yating joined the activity and were happy to see their kids learning English and learning to protect nature. The kids were excited too! Huang Yansyun said, “It was my first time eating something I planted. Pulling radishes was fun!” Zhang Jinxia said, “I learned how to grow vegetables. I want to plant more!”

This special day helped students learn new words, new skills, and how to treasure the food they eat.

2025 AI暨STEAM創意實作檢定在村上國小盛大舉行Feb.22,2025

2025 AI and STEAM Certification at Tsunshang Elementary SchoolTsunshang Elementary School has been teaching a special Jiguanwang* course for six years. This has helped students learn STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) in fun and creative ways. This year, nearly 50 students from the school joined the 2025 Changhua County AI and STEAM Certification, the highest number among all schools in the county!

The event was held today at Tsunshang Elementary School, with support from the Innovative Education and Technology Association and National Chin-Yi University of Technology. Students had to take a written test and build real projects. Judges checked their work and asked questions to see if they met the certification standards.

AI and STEAM are important for future learning, and schools in Changhua County are working hard to teach these subjects. This year, 250 students signed up for the certification—more than expected! This shows that many students are excited about learning new technology.

Principal Huang Wins Distinguished Educator Award

Today, Principal Huang Hong-Tian of Tsunshang Elementary School delivered a special talk at the Distinguished Educator Award sharing session, hosted by the Changhua County Government.

As last year’s award winner, Principal Huang shared his love for teaching and his journey in education. He also gave helpful tips on how to write a winning award application, hoping to inspire more great teachers to be recognized.

Through his hard work and kindness, Principal Huang continues to support other educators and make a difference in students’ lives.

A nearly 60-year-old elephant slide at Dashin Elementary School in Beidou Township, Changhua County, was at risk of being demolished due to its age. To preserve this cherished piece of campus history, the school secured funding from the county government to transform it into a three-dimensional flower terrace. This week, as part of its 60th-anniversary celebration, Dashin Elementary held an unveiling ceremony for the newly revitalized elephant slide. Alumni, including Zhang Jianfeng and his four-generation family, attended to relive treasured childhood memories.

On October 17th, 2024, the National Taiwan College of Performing Arts came to Chungshan Elementary School, bringing an exciting opera music concert for everyone! The performers were high school students from the Opera Music Department. They introduced different opera instruments and played beautiful songs, helping the students understand more about traditional opera music. The older students’ incredible musical skills amazed everyone, allowing the younger students to see the beauty of traditional music. The National Taiwan College of Performing Arts works hard to pass on traditional culture. With this special performance, students who usually don’t hear much opera music got a chance to enjoy and learn about this part of our culture.

On October 8, 2024, Dashin Elementary School kicked off its 60th-anniversary celebrations with the opening of the "My Artistic World" art exhibition. The event was held at the Beitou Art Gallery in Beidou Township Library, featuring collaborative creations by parents, teachers, and students.

The opening ceremony, attended by many members of the school community, began with a vibrant War Drum drum performance by the school’s drum team. Principal Daniel Huang welcomed guests, encouraging everyone to explore the creative works on display.

On October 8th, Datong Elementary School held a press conference for a special book donation. Principal Lee expressed deep gratitude to Amy Lin, the head of Books for Taiwan, for her dedication to bringing valuable English books from both U.S. public and school libraries to Taiwan. These books, which had reached the end of their circulation period, are now being repurposed as free resources for students in Taiwan, offering them new opportunities to learn and grow. The president of Datong’s Parent Association, Mr. Chen, along with the Wujangde Charity Organization, generously covered the shipping costs from the U.S. to Taiwan, ensuring these resources reached the school. Luke Lin, founder of My Culture Connect, played a crucial role in connecting the school with this wonderful initiative. Thanks to the kindness of so many people, the students’ English education will greatly improve.

彰化縣學校舉行地震演練September 20, 2024

To help students and teachers know what to do during an earthquake, schools across Changhua County had an earthquake drill this morning. Everyone followed three important steps: "Drop, Cover, and Hold On." They also remembered the “three don’ts”: "Don’t talk, Don’t run, and Don’t push," and quickly went to a safe place.

At 9:21 a.m., when the earthquake alarm went off, all the schools did a one-minute drill. Deputy County Magistrate Lin Tian-Fu visited Beidou Elementary School to see how they practiced.

113學年度第一次外師會議September 6, 2024

August 30th, 2024, marked the beginning of the new school year for all schools in Changhua County. English education and bilingual education have played a vital role in the county, and this year, we welcomed even more foreign English teachers to our schools. On September 4th, a total of 51 foreign English teachers gathered for their monthly meeting at Minsheng Elementary School. The meeting was divided into morning and afternoon sessions, focusing on curriculum planning, teaching experiences and administrative updates.

On August 20th, Changhua County hosted the "113th Academic Year Elementary, Junior High, and High School Development Conference" at Lu Jiang International School in Lukang Township. The event brought together over 200 school leaders, with County Magistrate Wang Hui-mei in attendance to encourage the principals and honor outstanding schools with awards. Magistrate Wang urged the principals to stay committed to their educational ideals and continue striving towards Changhua County’s three core educational goals: "Building a Strong Foundation," "Innovative Breakthroughs," and "Multifaceted Development."

This summer, students at Mingli Elementary School participated in the "Summer Fun Learning" camp, exploring their community while enhancing their English skills. They visited various local spots, including a charming café nestled in the rice fields, where they enjoyed delicious snacks and practiced ordering in English. The camp also included a visit to the nearby high-speed rail station, where students learned key terms related to the station. They also visited a cucumber greenhouse, where they discovered the challenges of farming, especially during harsh weather. Lastly, the students tried their hands at pottery at Tianzhong Pottery, enjoying the creative process on pottery wheels. Throughout the camp, the students had a great time, gaining both knowledge and confidence in using English to talk about their hometown. It was a summer they will always remember.

紐約中文學校彰化之旅 July 10, 2024

Hello and welcome! We're excited to share the incredible journey of 14 high school students from the CCC Chinese School in Albany, New York. From July 2nd to July 8th, these students volunteered in Changhua, Taiwan, for a week of teaching and cultural exchange. This event was made possible through collaboration with My Culture Connect. Each morning, our dedicated volunteers visited Jhonghe Elementary School, where they assisted in teaching English to the enthusiastic young campers attending the summer program.

Welcome to a special journey with Hsinmin Elementary School. The students recently enjoyed an exciting two-day trip filled with music and cultural activities. The adventure began with a high-speed train ride to Taipei Main Station. The string and flute ensembles performed beautiful music, delighting travelers and friends. The next day, at Penglai Elementary School, the students participated in a traditional rice cake activity and learned about Saisiyat culture.

On June 4th, Fuchao Elementary School invited Mr. Hong to teach students how to make taro rice cake as part of their rice education program. During the session, Mr. Hong poured ground rice batter into boiling shredded taro, stirring it until it thickened. Each student then scooped the mixture into a bowl, smoothed it with a tool, and placed it in a steamer to cook. With Mr. Hong's guidance, students learned more about traditional cuisine. By the end, everyone had a deeper appreciation for this cultural dish and enjoyed tasting the delicious and healthy taro rice cake.

On the afternoon of May 1st, the teachers at Mingli Elementary School participated in a workshop on making aroma soy candles. With guidance from instructor Alina Huang, they carefully placed flower petals into jelly wax, positioned the candle wick in the center of the cup, and mixed soy wax with fragrance before pouring it into glass containers. This hands-on workshop provided a wonderful opportunity for the teachers to relax and enjoy a creative activity. By the end of the afternoon, they had crafted beautiful and practical aroma soy candles, making it a rewarding experience for everyone involved. This memorable event not only enhanced their crafting skills but also fostered a sense of accomplishment among the teachers.

信義國中小考生祈福活動May 16, 2024

On the afternoon of May 15th, Hsinyi Junior High and Elementary School held a special event to pray for the ninth graders' success in their upcoming exams. The event's theme was "Achieving Dreams." Each ninth grader received some stationery for their exams and a lucky fortune cookie, wishing them the best of luck. In a show of confidence and unity, the students cheered together, loudly encouraging themselves. Each student then took the stage to announce their dream school and declared their goals by striking a gong to the universe.

Hello everyone! Today we have exciting news from Changhua County. Mingjheng Elementary School in Hsiushui Township has a brand-new student activity center. This center is a special place where students can play and learn indoors. It’s much more than just a room; it’s a large, welcoming space for all kinds of activities. Building this center was a big team effort. The Changhua County Government helped a lot. We also need to say a big thank you to County Magistrate Ms. Wang and Principal Lin. Without their hard work, this wouldn’t have been possible. Now, the student activity center is ready for school and community events. It shows how working together can make wonderful things happen.

The Erlin Elementary School handball team is practicing hard this winter for more than 2 weeks. The team has been around for 15 years and is really good. They work on running fast, throwing and catching balls, shooting goals, and playing as a team. Their coach is very helpful and teaches them to keep trying. Even when it's cold, they don't stop practicing because they want to be better. They learn to work together and support each other. Let's cheer for the Erlin handball team for their hard work and for playing so well together!

Welcome to our quick news about the Little Diplomat's Winter Camp at Wanai Elementary School. The kids had a lot of fun at this 5-day camp, learning all about Indonesia with help from Miss Yayati, our amazing teacher. They painted shadow puppets, made their own masks, and even cooked yummy Indonesian pineapple tarts called nasta. It was a fun way to explore another culture. The adventure didn't stop there; the Little Diplomats also took a trip to Taipei. They rode the high-speed train and visited cool places like the Taipei 101 Building. Thanks to Miss Yayati and everyone who made this camp so special, the kids learned a lot and had tons of fun. That's it for our Little Diplomats' big adventure. On December 13, 2022, students and teachers at Mingli Elementary School had a lot of fun participating in an event where they made their own scarecrows. Before getting started, a teacher gave instructions on how to make a scarecrow, using hay, poles, and old clothes to create colorful and unique designs. The students were able to use their creativity and follow the instructions to create their own scarecrows. The event allowed students to learn about farming and the importance of scarecrows in protecting crops, all while having fun and expressing their creativity. Overall, it was a successful and enjoyable activity for all who participated. 

大新國小慶祝感恩節December 1, 2022

Thanksgiving came to Dashin elementary school in Changhua county on November 24, 2022. Thanksgiving is a holiday in the United States where family and friends  come together to cook and share a meal together. With this idea in mind, teacher Amanda, with the cooperative efforts of administrators, teachers and staff at Da Shin school, worked hard to deliver the experience of an authentic Thanksgiving meal to the students. Popular traditional foods were prepared by hand, including caramelized sweet potatoes, green bean casserole, stuffing, corn, and apple pies. It was a memorable event for everyone,  marking teacher Amanda’s first thanksgiving in Taiwan and the first thanksgiving for students, their teachers, staff, and administrators in Taiwan’s Da Shin elementary school. On Saturday, October 29, 2022, foreign English teachers and 55 elementary students from Beidou Township and the surrounding area came together to participate in an English language camp organized by CIEETRC. The four groups of students met with each of the teachers for various activities that aimed to improve the students' English skills while experiencing cultural lessons through international education. Activities included an interactive PET game, listening to a Halloween story, filming a video in a recording studio, and demonstrating musical rhythm. Students received prizes, candy, a copy of their videos, and a day of fun just in time for Halloween. Amanda Kalinoski reporting for CIEETRC News.

On September 30th, Dashin Elementary School and Da Shin Community Development Association worked together to teach their students how to make traditional taro cake. Community volunteers got to the school very early to prepare all the ingredients, including taro, sticky rice, pork, shrimp, leek, and leaves. Once all of them were ready, students mixed them evenly and put the mixtures on the leaves. They were then steamed for 30 minutes. Everyone involved enjoyed their hard work. At the end of the day, Da Shin Elementary Students, their teachers, and the community  were able to take some taro cakes home to share them with their families and friends. Thanks to everyone's efforts, the traditional recipe of taro cakes will continue.
