Hello and welcome! We're excited to share the incredible journey of 14 high school students from the CCC Chinese School in Albany, New York. From July 2nd to July 8th, these students volunteered in Changhua, Taiwan, for a week of teaching and cultural exchange. This event was made possible through collaboration with My Culture Connect. Each morning, our dedicated volunteers visited Jhonghe Elementary School, where they assisted in teaching English to the enthusiastic young campers attending the summer program.

Their afternoons were filled with rich cultural experiences, starting with calligraphy and dragon dancing lessons at Luoqing Elementary School. The following afternoon, they headed to Sijhou Junior High School, where each student learned to play a traditional Chinese musical instrument, culminating in a group performance that showcased their newfound skills. On Friday, the adventure continued at Siling Elementary School, where they experienced lion dancing, kite flying, and even learned to ride unicycles.

Saturday was a highlight, as the Luoqing Elementary School students and the New York volunteers took a bus trip to the National Palace Museum Southern Branch in Chiayi. They marveled at the ancient treasures and artifacts that have withstood the test of time. The week concluded with a trip to Taiwan's soybean farm in Beidou Township on Sunday. Here, they learned the intricate processes of making tofu and douhua, a traditional tofu pudding. 

This exchange left lasting memories for both the volunteers and the students. The friendships formed and the cultural insights gained provided an invaluable international perspective for the students of Taiwan.
