Dachuang Elementary School

Dachuang Elementary School is located in Xizhou Township, Changhua County, Taiwan, adjacent to the Jhuoshuei River. The community embraces the unique "Rice and Fruit Joy Culture," representing the native composition of the area with 20% rice, 10% dragon fruit, and 70% guava. This cultural blend not only mirrors the local way of life but also serves as symbolic imagery for learning. Additionally, it acts as a reflection of the localized approach to disaster prevention education, where rice symbolizes humility, dragon fruit embodies enthusiastic learning, and guava represents an optimistic and proactive approach to handling situations.

The school's study tour program, titled "SEA Tour Rice and Fruit Fun and Interesting," draws inspiration from the geographical location along the Jhuoshuei River, community historical narratives, and the local agricultural industry. Integrating the school's background related to artillery shelling, air pollution, and potential geological hazards, the program is divided into three courses:

1.S (Science): Disaster Prevention with a Focus on Science:

Emphasis on scientific disaster prevention knowledge and response during emergencies.

2.E (Eating): Food and Agriculture Disaster Prevention with a Focus on Survival:

Focuses on post-disaster survival skills related to food and agriculture.

3.A (Aesthetics):Aesthetic Disaster Prevention with a Focus on Emotional Therapy:

Concentrates on emotional therapeutic education for disaster prevention.

The program emphasizes a "local-based, linked life" approach, adhering to the principle of "focusing on Dachuang's local characteristics, expanding different elements of the disaster prevention experience." This ensures the development of unique study tour courses that reflect the distinctive features

of Dachuang and provide diverse experiences in disaster prevention.
